Spotlight on Global Jihad (May 10-15, 2018)

Despite the exchange of blows between the IDF and the Iranian forces in Syria, the Syrian army and SDF forces continued to fight against ISIS uninterruptedly in the two main arenas. While ISIS is facing severe pressure in its “core countries” (Iraq and Syria), its operatives or supporters, influenced by its ideology, continue to carry out terrorist attacks throughout the world. Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri called on Muslims (May 14, 2018) to carry out jihad against the United States and Western countries following the relocation of the US embassy to Jerusalem.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (May 9-15, 2018)

Events this past week focused on the violent, pre-planned demonstrations of the "great return march" on May 14, 2018. Hamas and the other terrorist organizations called on the residents of Judea and Samaria to join the demonstrations. Response was poor.

Spotlight on Iran (April 29 – May 13, 2018)

Iran is attempting to downplay the involvement of the Qods Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the Golan Heights on the night of May 10. Instead, Iran is presenting the events as a direct confrontation between Israel and Syria. Against the backdrop of growing tensions between Iran and Israel, senior Iranian officials continue to threaten Israel. As expected, Iran congratulated Hezbollah for its achievement in the parliamentary elections held in Lebanon

In Syria, two campaigns against ISIS continued this week in two different arenas. ISIS continues its campaign aimed at disrupting the elections process in the countries in which it operates, by means of terrorist attacks against individuals and facilities

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (May 2-8, 2018)

This week as well, the violent incidents initiated by the Palestinians, mainly Hamas, continued along the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel. The organizers of the marches are preparing for this Friday’s events (May 11, 2018), and at the same time are preparing for the climax of the events in mid-May: May 14 (the transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem) and May 15 (Nakba Day).

Spotlight on Global Jihad (April 26 – May 2, 2018)

This week, the Syrian army recorded achievements in its campaign to take over the southern suburbs of Damascus from ISIS. The Syrian army forces advanced inside the Yarmouk refugee camp and took control of most of the Al-Qadam neighborhood to its west. The operatives of the Headquarters for the Liberation of Al-Sham, a jihadi organization and one of ISIS’s rivals, began to leave the Yarmouk refugee camp for the Idlib region after reaching an evacuation agreement with the Syrian regime.
