Spotlight on Iran (November 17, 2022 – December 1, 2022)

A senior officer in the Aerospace force of the IRGC was assassinated in Syria. The IRGC statement alleged that he was assassinated by Israel and vowed to avenge his death. A Syrian pro-opposition outlet reported that an Iranian surface to air missile system was recently deployed in the area of Damascus following recent airstrikes against targets of the pro-Iranian militias in Syria. The strikes have been widely attributed to Israel. In late November, the Iraqi Prime Minister arrived for a visit in Iran.

Spotlight on Global Jihad (November 24-30, 2022)

As in recent weeks, this week as well, ISIS’s activity throughout the world remained moderate. Prominent attacks took place in the Sinai Peninsula, Afghanistan, and Nigeria. The Somali government recorded achievements in fighting against the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab Organization. ISIS issued hostile messages against the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, calling on its operatives to drive away the polytheists, Jews, and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula An element affiliated with ISIS disseminated a video on social media calling for attacks on Christmas against the “enemies of Muslims” throughout the world.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (November 22-29, 2022)

This past week Palestinian terrorists carried out two attacks. two Israelis were killed. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities in Judea and Samaria, detaining dozens of wanted terrorists and confiscating weapons. Five Palestinians were killed. A terrorist attack on a bus in Israel was recently prevented; it was planned by Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives in the Gaza Strip. The body of an Israeli Druze teenager was taken from a hospital in Jenin by armed terrorists after he had been mortally wounded in an automobile accident. The Gaza Strip remained relatively quiet.

The most noteworthy event was an incident between the Egyptian army and ISIS operatives in Al-Qantara, near the Suez Canal. This week, there was a moderate increase in ISIS’s activity throughout the world., Terror activity in Mozambique has recently increased. This past week Palestinians carried out two shooting attacks in northern Samaria; no Israeli casualties were reported:. A mass-casualty attack was averted when a car bomb exploded prematurely. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities in Judea and Samaria. A young Palestinian was killed. Clashes broke out in Hebron between Jewish worshippers and Palestinians. The Gaza Strip remained relatively quiet.

Spotlight on Terrorism : Hezbollah, Lebanon and Syria (November 8-21, 2022)

The political stalemate in Lebanon continues no candidate for the position of president has been agreed on. A meeting was held by a Lebanese army, UNIFIL and IDF representatives. Hezbollah marked Shaheed Day with a memorial for Ahmed Qasir, the Hezbollah terrorist operative who carried out the first suicide bombing. Three attacks in Syrian were attributed to Israel.
