On July 26, 2019, the return march was held in the Gaza Strip with about 4,500 participants (fewer than in recent weeks). The Israeli security forces exposed an Iranian network that recruited residents if Israel, Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip to Iranian intelligence. The destruction of houses in Wadi al-Hums, near Sur Baher, southeast Jerusalem, led to Mahmoud Abbas announcing that the Palestinian leadership would stop acting in accordance with cooperation agreements signed with Israel.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (July 10 – 16 , 2019)

On Friday, July 12, 2019, return march events were held in the Gaza Strip with about 6,500 participants. The level of violence was higher than in previous weeks. In recent weeks there has been a significant decrease in the number of incendiary and IED balloons launched into Israel. on July 11, 2019, the IDF accidentally shot and killed a Hamas military wing operative near the security fence. Hamas announced it would respond. This past week an Egyptian General Intelligence delegation visited the Gaza Strip. This past week registration began for the summer camps organized by Hamas' military wing. The camps provide paramilitary training and ideological indoctrination to prepare the youths for future integration into Hamas' military and political networks in the Gaza Strip.

Summer Camps in the Gaza Strip: A tool for indoctrinating the younger generation with radical ideologies and training them to become future operatives in the terrorist organizations, especially Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Every summer Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) conduct summer camps in the Gaza Strip for youngsters, mostly for high school students. Thousands of campers enjoy summer activities, which are combined with radical ideologies and paramilitary training. Hamas is the most prominent organization conducting summer camps (as a continuation of the military training in the high schools during the school year).

Spotlight on Iran (June 30, 2019 – July 14, 2019)

Iran, Russia and Turkey are preparing for another summit of the three countries’ presidents, set to be held in Ankara in August. In recent weeks, Iran has stepped up efforts to expand its economic influence in Syria and Iraq, signaling its desire to increase its economic clout in the region. Following the completion of formation of the new Iraqi cabinet, the Iranian ambassador to Baghdad met with the incoming Iraqi Minister of Interior, Yassin al-Yasiri, while the Iranian military attaché to Baghdad met with the incoming Minister of Defense. The commentator Hamza Abu Shanab, published an article in which he detailed Iranian assistance to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Spotlight on Iran (June 2 -16, 2019)

On June 13, two oil tankers were attacked in the Gulf of Oman. Iran rejected the accusations and blamed foreign actors for the attack, which was carried out during a visit of the Japanese prime minister to Tehran. The deputy commander of the IRGC called Iranian presence in Syria “the realization of a divide duty”. During a visit to the Khuzestan Province in southwestern Iran, the senior military adviser of the Supreme Leader of Iran called to connect Iran, Iraq and Syria. During the Quds Day speeches in the Gaza Strip, senior Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad Officials thanked Iran for its support for the Palestinians

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (May 29- June 4, 2019)

At the events of the return march on May 31, 2019, the theme was "Global Jerusalem Day." The systematic launching of incendiary balloons from the Gaza Strip continues. During the annual Iranian-sponsored Global Jerusalem Day events two prominent figures gave speeches, Yahya al-Sinwar, head of the Hamas political bureau in the Gaza Strip.
