The Annapolis meeting launched an Israeli-Palestinian negotiation process based on the implementation of the road map and negotiating the core issues of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Both sides also committed themselves to fulfilling the provisions of the road map immediately, and agreed that an American-Palestinian-Israeli mechanism would be created, led by the United States.
