In the Gaza Strip the number of Covid-19 cases continues to spike, with 3,013 active cases as of November 10, 2020. The Gaza Strip was relatively quiet this past week. In Judea and Samaria there were two terrorist attacks this past week. In the Palestinian Authority the results of the American general election were received with a sense of relief. On November 10, 2020, Saeb Erekat, senior Fatah figure and secretary of the PLO's Executive Committee, died in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem of Covid-19 complications.

The Spread of Covid-19 in Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria (Updated to November 9, 2020)

The situation in the Gaza Strip: This past week the sharp rise in the number of active Covid-19 cases in the Gaza Strip continued with 1,738 new cases (approximately 250 new cases per day). As of November 9, 2020, the number stood at 3,014, up from 2,549 last week. The situation in Judea and Samaria: This past week the number of active Covid-19 cases in Judea and Samaria rose again, with 2,358 new cases. As of November 8, 2020, there were 4,281 active cases, down from 4,315 a week ago. The number of deaths stands at 477, up from 455 a week ago. Weddings remain one of the main venues for spreading the virus.

A shooting attack against an IDF force near Nablus ended with the death of the shooter. The Palestinian foreign ministry issued a false report, representing the killing as a “barbaric execution” (a familiar PA response to Palestinian popular terrorism events).

On November 4, 2020, a Palestinian armed with a hand gun drove to a roadblock near Hawwara (south of Nablus) and opened fire at IDF soldiers manning the site. The soldiers identified the threat, took cover and returned fire, killing the shooter. No IDF casualties were reported (IDF spokesman, November 4, 2020).

In the Gaza Strip the number of new Covid-19 cases continues rising sharply. This past week the Gaza Strip was relatively quiet. In Judea And Samaria Palestinians continue throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at Israeli vehicles, with increasing frequency. Israeli security forces demolished the house of the Palestinian terrorist operative who stabbed an Israeli civilian to death in Petah Tikva, in central Israel. This past week operatives of Fatah's militant faction, the Tanzim, clashed with operatives of the Palestinian security forces in the Balata refugee camp in Nablus. In the PA and Gaza Strip protest demonstrations were held after French President Emmanuel Macron spoke out against Islamic terrorism and Islamist separatism.
