In a speech given by IHH leader Bulent Yildirim two months prior to the Marmara flotilla, he presented a radical Islamic ideology with anti-Western and anti-Israeli motifs. He said that the aim of the flotilla was to isolate Israel by “breaking the siege” and stressed his determination to reach Gaza.

The UN Human Rights Council fact-finding mission examining the events of the flotilla has sent teams to Jordan and Turkey.

On the eve of the summit meeting in Washington to relaunch the direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, a shooting attack was carried out targeting an Israeli vehicle southeast of Hebron.

Four Israeli civilians were killed. Hamas’ military wing claimed responsibility; the Palestinian Authority condemned the attack.
