The fight against COVID-19 in the Gaza Strip (updated to March 31, 2020)

The ministry of health in the Gaza Strip announced another case of COVID-19 among the people quarantined in the Gaza Strip. This brings the number of COVID-19 patients in the Gaza Strip to 10, all in stable condition. According to the ministry’s statement, the newly identified patient arrived from the Rafah crossing.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (March 25 – 31, 2020)

While Hamas has focused most of its attention on trying to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Gaza Strip, this past week a rocket was fired into Israeli territory. The mass return march which was supposed to be held in the Gaza Strip on March 30, 2020, to mark Land Day and the second anniversary of the return marches, was cancelled because of the COVID-19 crisis. So far 107 Palestinians have tested positive for COVID-19 in the PA (as of March 31, 2020), with 10 in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) Deals with COVID-19 (Overview updated to March 29, 2020)

COVID-19 continues spreading throughout Judea and Samaria. A spokesman for the PA government announced that seven additional cases were reported on March 29, two women from the village of Qibiya and five members of a family in the village of Qatanna (northwest of Jerusalem).

The Spread of Coronavirus in the Gaza Strip (Updated to March 29, 2020)

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the Gaza Strip has reached nine. The source was two Palestinians who arrived from Pakistan and subsequently infected seven security operatives. The ministry of health in the Gaza Strip claims that so far no case of COVID-19 infection has been detected inside the Gaza Strip. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that there are 64 ventilators in the Gaza Strip and that 50-100 more are needed for dealing with an outbreak of the disease.

The Palestinian Authority and Hamas Blame Israel for the Spread of Coronavirus (Updated to March 26, 2020)

Since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas have been particularly worried about the spread of the virus from Israel (despite the fact that the first cases of the coronavirus, and some later ones, came from people who arrived in the PA territories from abroad, not from Israel).

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (March 18 – 24, 2020)

Quiet continues along the Gaza Strip border due to Hamas' focusing its efforts and attention on dealing with coronavirus. In Judea and Samaria an IDF force killed a Palestinian from Ni'lin who was throwing rocks at Israeli vehicles. It was reported that rocks were found in his vehicle ready for throwing. The "routine" throwing of stones and Molotov cocktails at Israeli vehicles, including buses, on the roads in Judea and Samaria continues.
