This past week sporadic rocket fire continued from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory. Two rocket hits were identified in open areas near Israeli villages. In response the Israeli Air Force attacked targets in the southern Gaza Strip. This week barrels of explosives were discovered on the Ashqelon and Ashdod beaches. Apparently the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip were planning to blow them up near an Israeli Navy boat. This past week rocket and mortar shells were fired sporadically from the Gaza Strip into the western Negev. The Palestinian Authority maintained its refusal to re-launch negotiations, lowered its expectations and focused its efforts on trying to convince the Europeans to exert pressure on Israel.
