Palestinian reactions to the double terrorist attack in Jerusalem (November 23, 2022)

On the morning of November 23, 2022, Palestinians carried out a double terrorist attack in Jerusalem. The attack was unique and more sophisticated than the recent lone wolf and shooting attacks. Considering the nature of the attack and concerned about an Israeli reprisal, the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip raised their level of alert. The official Palestinian media reported the attack as an event, not a terrorist attack. Senior PA figures did not relate to it at all.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (November 15-22, 2022)

This past week Palestinians carried out two shooting attacks in northern Samaria; no Israeli casualties were reported:. A mass-casualty attack was averted when a car bomb exploded prematurely. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities in Judea and Samaria. A young Palestinian was killed. Clashes broke out in Hebron between Jewish worshippers and Palestinians. The Gaza Strip remained relatively quiet.

The Palestinian Authority and Fatah have adopted a policy of full solidarity with Palestinians killed while carrying out terrorist attacks against Israel or in confrontations with Israeli security forces

With the increase of terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria in recent months and the intensive counterterrorism activities of the Israeli security forces, the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the PA have increased its glorification of the fatalities (primarily operatives of Fatah and the PA security forces) and adopted a policy of full solidarity with their families, including terrorists killed while attacking Israelis and in clashes with Israeli security forces. Senior PA and Fatah figures declare them heroes and have been strongly critical of Israel for killing them. Many of them, including PA Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh and Hussein al-Sheikh, secretary general of the PLO's Executive Committee and responsible for relations with Israel, customarily visit the mourning tents and offer their condolences to the terrorists' families. The PA and Fatah hold formal military-style funerals which are attended by operatives of the PA security forces and senior PA and Fatah figures; Their objective is apparently to gain the sympathy and support of the Palestinian people and to prove that neither the PA nor Fatah has abandoned the path of "resistance."

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (November 8-15, 2022)

This past week Palestinians carried out two terrorist attacks. One was a combined stabbing-vehicular ramming attack in Ariel, killing three Israelis and wounding four; the other was a shooting attack at the Gilboa Crossing, The Gaza Strip remained relatively calm. The PA continued promoting unilateral measures against Israel. PA Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh continued accusing Israel of direct damage to the PA's environment.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (November 1-8, 2022)

This past week Palestinian terrorists carried a stabbing attack in the Old City of Jerusalem and a vehicular ramming attack at the Maccabim Crossing. The Israeli security forces prevented a stabbing attack at the Te'enim Crossing. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities in Judea and Samaria. Four Palestinians were killed, one of them a senior PIJ operative. Another senior Lion's Den operative surrendered to the Palestinian security forces. Four rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel. One rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome aerial defense system and three fell inside the Gaza Strip.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (October 26-31, 2022)

This past week Palestinians carried out five terrorist attacks: a double vehicular ramming attack in the Jordan Valley, in which five; a shooting attack near Kiryat Arba, in which one civilian was killed; a shooting attack near Bani Na'im,; a shooting attack in Hawwara (near Nablus; and a stabbing attack near al-Funduq (east of Qalqilya. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities in Judea and Samaria. Four operatives of the Lion's Den terrorist network, including a commander, surrendered to the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces. The Gaza Strip was relatively quiet.
