News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (May 10 –16, 2017)

Popular terrorism continued this past week with a stabbing attack targeting an Israeli policeman in the Old City of Jerusalem. The terrorist, a Jordanian tourist, was shot and killed. Palestinians throughout Judea and Samaria held demonstrations and rioted in solidarity with the hunger-striking Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and to mark Nakba Day.

During the past two weeks popular terrorism attacks continued. Prominent among them were stabbing and shooting attacks. The Gaza Strip was relatively quiet. In internal and external Palestinian politics there were three significant events: Hamas issued a political document entitled “A Document of General Principles and Policies Mahmoud Abbas met in Washington with Donald Trump.

The commander of the IRGC’s ground forces said his fighters would continue to serve as advisors in Syria alongside the Qods Force. Iran denounced the April 27, 2017 attack on Hezbollah arms storehouses near the Damascus airfield. A Hamas-affiliated news agency posted a video on Facebook of the charged confrontation in the Israeli Knesset between bereaved families and Knesset members.

The operators of the Facebook page of the Hamas-affiliated Shehab News Agency recently posted a video published on the Israeli Walla News website.
