This past week relative quiet prevailed in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip. A mosque in the village of Al-Mughayyir (near Ramallah) was torched and vandalized. “Price tag” was painted in Hebrew on one of the external walls, indicating the arson was the work of extremist settlers.

Ahmed Jibril’s organization (PFLP-GC) blamed the PA, Fatah, and Saudi Arabia for the violent clashes in Al-Yarmuk refugee camp. The PA and Fatah strongly condemned Jibril’s “crimes”, while PA media blamed the Syrian regime for the incident. Hamas, recognizing its dependence on Syria, tried to play both sides of the fence.

Changes in the Nature and Schedule of the African Aid Convoys to the Gaza Strip (Update, June 12, 2011)

According to updated information, changes were recently made in the route, schedule and nature of the South African convoy to the Gaza Strip, which was supposed to depart during the third week of June 2011.

Following the Naksa Day events, there was strong internal Palestinian criticism of Ahmed Jibril’s organization (PFLP-GC), affiliated with the Syrian regime, and of other pro-Syrian organizations.

They were blamed for cynically sending young Palestinians to their deaths to serve the interests of the Syrian and other regimes (possibly Iran). PFLP-GC and PFLP-Habash operatives were attacked by relatives of the slain Palestinians during funerals held in Al-Yarmukh refugee camp near Damascus. The PFLP-GC headquarters were torched.

An Iranian delegation participated in events held by the IHH in Istanbul on the anniversary of the Marmara flotilla, focused on fostering the myth of the “Marmara shaheeds”.

The Iranian delegation raised the flags of Iran and Hezbollah, and held meetings with IHH activists and radical Islamist elements affiliated with it.
