The amount of sporadic rocket fire from the Gaza Strip increased. On July 29 an event occurred north of Jerusalem in which a Palestinian was killed and an Israeli policeman suffered slight wounds. During the first half of 2012 there was a significant increase in the so-called soft violence in the Jerusalem area.

This past week one rocket hit was identified in Israeli territory. In response, Israeli aircraft struck two sites where weapons were stockpiled. This week delivery began of the fuel from sent to the Gaza Strip from Qatar. Naksa Day events were held without exceptional occurrences.

This past week events focused on the killing of an IDF soldier by a Palestinian terrorist operative who infiltrated into Israeli territory from the central Gaza. three rocket hits were identified in the western Negev. The Israeli Air Force struck a number of terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip.
