Spotlight on Iran (December 29, 2022 – January 12, 2023)

Iran condemned the attack carried out against several targets in Syria on the night of January 2, which has been attributed to Israel. The Iranian minister of foreign affairs spoke to his Syrian counterpart, and discussed with him bilateral ties. In early January, the Deputy Secretary General of Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, arrived for a visit in Tehran. During his visit, he met with the Senior Adviser on International Affairs to the Supreme Leader of Iran. Iran condemned the visit of the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir.

Spotlight on Global Jihad (January 5-11, 2023)

This week has witnessed a relatively low level of ISIS activity around the world .At the center of events Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab set off several car bombs in central Somalia. In Syria ISIS carried out several attacks against the Syrian army and the forces supporting it In Afghanistan: Taliban security forces killed eight ISIS operatives and arrested seven in Kabul.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (January 4-10, 2023)

This past week Palestinian terrorists carried out two shooting attacks in Samaria. No Israeli casualties were reported. Israeli police forces detained a Palestinian woman armed with a knife at the entrance to the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. Palestinians continued throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at Israeli vehicles driving on the roads in Judea and Samaria. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities. A Palestinian was killed in a clash with Israeli security forces . The Gaza Strip remained relatively quiet, despite an unsuccessful rocket launch from central Gaza. The Palestinian strongly condemned the measures Israel's political-security cabinet decided to take against the PA for its appeal to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) .

Spotlight on Global Jihad (December 29, 2022 – January 4, 2023)

This week, the moderate increase in ISIS activity around the world continued. The centers of activity were Egypt where ISIS operatives fired at an Egyptian police checkpoint in the city of Ismailia and Afghanistan whrer at least 10 people were killed in a suicide attack near the entrance to the military compound at Kabul International Airport.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (December 28, 2022 – January 3, 2023)

This past week there were no terrorist attacks. Palestinians continued throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at Israeli vehicles driving on the roads in Judea and Samaria. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities, detaining dozens of wanted terrorists and confiscating weapons. Three Palestinians, all terrorist organization operatives, were killed in clashes with Israeli security forces. The Israeli national security minister entered the Temple Mount. The Palestinian threatened another intifada.

Spotlight on Global Jihad (December 22-28, 2022)

The Israeli security forces exposed details on the perpetrator of the double bombing attack which was carried out in Jerusalem. The terrorist was inspired by ISIS’s ideology but acted alone. This week, there was an increase in ISIS activity around the world. The organization’s activity focused on Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Nigeria. In Iraq The Iraqi army sustained fatalities in ISIS attacks in the provinces of Kirkuk and Erbil. In Syria a failed attempt was made by ISIS to break into a prison in Al-Raqqah.
