Spotlight on Global Jihad (December 22-28, 2022)

The Israeli security forces exposed details on the perpetrator of the double bombing attack which was carried out in Jerusalem. The terrorist was inspired by ISIS’s ideology but acted alone. This week, there was an increase in ISIS activity around the world. The organization’s activity focused on Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Nigeria. In Iraq The Iraqi army sustained fatalities in ISIS attacks in the provinces of Kirkuk and Erbil. In Syria a failed attempt was made by ISIS to break into a prison in Al-Raqqah.

Spotlight on Iran (December 15, 2022 – December 29, 2022)

Additional strikes attributed to Israel were carried out in the area of Damascus and al-Qsair Military Airport west of Homs city. Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) significantly increased the salaries of fighters and civilians serving within the pro-Iranian militias in eastern Syria. A Lebanese news website reported, that Iran is willing to provide fuel to Lebanon.The Commander of the IRGC’s Qods Force, declared that Israel is in dire straits, and soon enough, the Palestinians will expel Israel from Palestine.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (December 21-27, 2022)

This past week Palestinian terrorists carried out four attacks: a combined attack in Kafr Qassem (an Israeli-Arab city); and three shooting attacks in Samaria. No Israeli casualties were reported. The security forces revealed information about the terrorist who carried out the double IED attack in Jerusalem on November 23, 2022. He acted alone and was influenced by ISIS ideology but did not belong to the organization. The Gaza Strip remained relatively quiet. The PA continues preparing itself for the new Israeli government.

Spotlight on Global Jihad (December 15-21, 2022)

This week, there was a moderate increase in the scope of ISIS’s activity. The hotspots of activity were Iraq and Syria. In Iraq:  Two officers and 10 soldiers and policemen were killed in two separate incidents Eight civilians were killed in an ISIS attack northwest of Baqubah. In Syria:  The US army arrested six ISIS operatives, including a senior leader In Mali, over 100 Al-Qaeda operatives were killed in an exchange of fire between ISIS and Al-Qaeda .

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (December 14-20, 2022)

This past week Palestinian terrorists carried out two shooting attacks. Palestinians continued throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at Israeli vehicles driving on the roads in Judea and Samaria. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities. The Palestinians terrorist organizations fomented unrest on the Temple Mount in preparation for Hanukkah, The Gaza Strip remained relatively calm. Hamas held a mass rally to mark the 35th anniversary of its founding. Yahya al-Sinwar said the only way to achieve their objectives was to escalate all forms of "resistance.

Spotlight on Iran (December 1, 2022 – December 15, 2022)

The Saudi channel al-Arabiya reported that the Iranian Airline Meraj, which is linked to the IRGC, began operating regular direct flights to the Beirut International Airport from Tehran. Israel is concerned these flights would be used to smuggle weaponry from Iran to Lebanese Hezbollah. An Iranian oil tanker, previously detained by Greece owing to American pressure, approached the shores of Banyas. The American Navy stopped a fishing boat in the Gulf of Oman, which was en route from Iran to Yemen, and was carrying over one million bullets as well as components to manufacture rockets, intended to reach the Houthis in Yemen
