This past week terrorist events focused on the prevention of a mass-casualty attack in the region of the Kerem Shalom crossing. The attack was carried out by a group of terrorists affiliated with the global jihad. The amount of sporadic rocket fire from the Gaza Strip increased. On July 29 an event occurred north of Jerusalem in which a Palestinian was killed and an Israeli policeman suffered slight wounds. During the first half of 2012 there was a significant increase in the so-called soft violence in the Jerusalem area.

This past week terrorist events focused on the Hezbollah bombing of a bus full of Israeli tourists in Burgas, Bulgaria. This past week there was also a terrorist attack along the Israeli-Egyptian border. Shots were fired at a bus carrying IDF soldiers in the region of Ein Netafim. There were no casualties.
