ISIS’s media response to the imminent defeat in the village of Al-Baghouz

While the fighting in Al-Baghouz is drawing to a close, ISIS released a video entitled “The significance of the steadfastness in Al-Baghouz.” The messages of the video are intended to cope with the (additional) blow sustained by ISIS, by emphasizing that the loss in the battle does not indicate a loss in the campaign, which is not over yet, and it is too early to declare ISIS’s defeat (a video released by ISIS’s Al-Barakah Province through Shabakat Shumukh, March 11, 2019).

ISIS’s media network: Developments in 2018 and future courses of action

The year 2018 was a significant year for ISIS’s media network. During this year, the organization’s media network became more decentralized, following the collapse of the Islamic Caliphate in Syria and Iraq. Syria and Iraq remained ISIS’s core countries, but the importance of the semi-autonomous provinces outside Iraq and Syria gradually increased. ISIS’s media network continues to be of a global nature, conducted mainly in cyberspace.

The Palestinian Authority Continues to Encourage Terrorism: A mourning tent opened in the Palestinian embassy in Saudi Arabia for a terrorist who murdered two Israelis in the Barkan industrial zone

Basem al-Agha, the PA ambassador to Saudi Arabia, opened a mourning tent in the PA embassy building in Riyadh for Ashraf al-Na'alwa, the terrorist who carried out a shooting attack in the Barkan industrial zone, murdering two Israelis (on October 7, 2018). Al-Na'alwa, who escaped after the terrorist attack, died in an exchange of fire with Israeli security forces after a search for him that lasted nine weeks.

The United States proposed a UN General Assembly resolution condemning Hamas and other terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip

On November 30, 2018, the United States Mission to the United Nations proposed a resolution calling for the condemnation of Hamas for its terrorist activities in the Gaza Strip. According to the proposed resolution, Hamas is to be condemned for its repeated firing of rockets into Israel, inciting violence and putting civilians at risk, and using airborne incendiary devices [such as kites and balloons].

Hamas continues military training for students in government high schools in the Gaza Strip to prepare them to join its ranks

During 2018 Hamas has continued providing military training for students in government high schools in the Gaza Strip, with the "return marches" and ongoing tension with Israel in the background. The training is part of the al-Futuwwa ("youth/heroism") program, which prepares them to join the ranks of Hamas (and other terrorist organizations) in the future.
