News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (March 30 – April 5, 2022)

This past week focused on the Israeli security forces' intensive counterterrorism activities in Judea and Samaria (especially around Jenin) following the terrorist attack in Bnei Brak and in an attempt to prevent further attacks. On March 31, 2022, an Israeli was critically wounded in a stabbing attack on a bus in Gush Etzion. The terrorist was shot and killed by an armed civilian. In Judea and Samaria Palestinians continued throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at Israeli vehicles. Every evening since April 2, 2022, the first fast day of Ramadan, there have been rising tensions. A delegation of the Hamas leadership, led by Isma'il Haniyeh, head of Hamas' political bureau, met with Mohammed Bin Abd al-Rahman, the Qatari foreign minister.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (March 23-29, 2022)

The focus of terrorist activity this past week were two shooting attacks, one in Hadera on March 27, 2022, and the other in Bnei Brak on March 29, 2022. Seven people were killed in the attacks. It was the third terrorist attack inside Israel in the past week. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack in Hadera. Israel will institute a number of measures to ease the lives of Gazans during the Muslim religious month of Ramadan. Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas held two political meetings this past week, one with American Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who came for a regional visit, and the other with King Abdallah of Jordan, who paid a visit to Ramallah.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (March 16-22, 2022)

This past week terrorist events focused on the combined stabbing and vehicular ramming attack carried out in Beersheba on March 22, 2022. Four Israeli civilians were killed. In addition, Palestinians carried out three other terrorist attacks this past week: one shooting attack and two stabbing attacks, injuring a policeman and a civilian. Hamas and the. PIJ leader Ziyad al-Nakhalah met with a Hamas delegation headed by Saleh al-'Arouri, deputy chairman of Hamas' political bureau. In the Gaza Strip activities are being planned to mark Land Day on March 30, reportedly to be held at the same time in Israel by Israeli Arabs.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (March 9-15, 2022)

Two Palestinians were killed in clashes with Israeli security forces who were detaining wanted Palestinians in the Balata and Qalandia refugee camps on March 15, 2022. A third Palestinian died after having been critically wounded while throwing a Molotov cocktail near Nablus on March 1, 2022. The Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced an increase in the number of permits issued to Gazans for work and commerce in Israel, bringing the current number to 12,000. The Palestinian Islamist and terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip announced the establishment of a "national authority" for the support of Palestinians living in Israel (arab al-dahel) [i.e., Israeli Arabs]. Muhammad Shtayyeh met with Hady Amr, deputy assistant secretary for Israeli and Palestinian affairs in the American State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (March 2-8, 2022)

This past week four terrorist attacks were carried out: one vehicular ramming and three stabbing attacks. Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and other Palestinian terrorist organizations welcomed the attacks and called for more. In the meantime Palestinians continue throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at Israeli vehicles on the roads in Judea and Samaria. On the night of March 7, 2022, Israeli security forces demolished the house of Muhammad Jaradat and the floor of the house where Ghiti Jaradat lived in the village of Silat al-Harithiya, west of Jenin. The Palestinian Authority (PA) has still not taken a position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The coronavirus: The number of active cases in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip continues to decline.
