Even after a ceasefire ended the most recent round of escalation, systematic launching of incendiary and IED balloons from the Gaza Strip continues.

Since the ceasefire (May 6, 2019) that ended the most recent round of escalation, there has been a gradual increase in the launching of incendiary and IED balloons from the Gaza Strip. During the past two weeks it has become intensive and systematic, and caused scores of fires near the Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip border.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (May 22 – 29, 2019)

On May 24, 2019, the return march was held in the Gaza Strip with a relatively small number of participants (about 4,000 Palestinians). About three weeks after the end of the recent round of escalation, incendiary and IED balloons have been launched into Israeli territory almost on a daily basis (with an awareness of their greater potential for causing fires in the current very hot weather). Following the strong rejection of the Palestinian Authority (PA) of the economic workshop planned for Bahrain, senior PA figures began a diplomatic and media campaign to clarify the Palestinian position and prevent the participation of representatives from the Middle East and around the globe.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (May 15- May 21, 2019)

On May 15, 2019, Nakba Day events were held in the Gaza Strip with the format of the weekly return marches. Despite the understandings reached at the end of the most recent round of escalation, senior Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) figures continue using belligerent rhetoric. The Israel security forces recently solved a series of shooting attacks in the Ramallah region.

Anti-Israeli demonstration and rally held in central London to mark Nakba Day, with the participation of members of the Labour Party and the support of its leader, Jeremy Corbyn. Hamas expressed its appreciation to Corbyn for his support.

On May 11, 2019, a demonstration and rally were held in central London to mark the Palestinian Nakba Day. The events were organized by several anti-Israeli organizations operating in Britain, whose objective is to demonize Israel and promote the BDS campaign. The Nakba Day events in London were attended by between 3,000 and 4,000 demonstrators. At the head of the demonstrators marched Ahed Tamimi, a young Palestinian woman from the village of Nabi Salih (near Ramallah).

Hamas’s financial aid to the wounded and the families of those killed in the Return Marches

On April 21, 2019, Ahmed al-Kurd, member of the Hamas Political Bureau and the Hamas official in charge of the Wounded Portfolio, announced the distribution of financial aid to families whose children were killed or wounded during the return marches.
