Iranian support for Palestinian terrorism: Continuation of Iranian fund transfers to shaheeds’ families in the Gaza Strip by PIJ-affiliated Al-Ansar charity association

The Al-Ansar charity association in the Gaza Strip, which is affiliated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), announced that it had distributed this year financial support for families of shaheeds killed in the years 2000-2014. A total of $1,870,000 was distributed this year (compared to $2 million in 2017).

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (July 25-31, 2018)

This past week terrorist events focused on the stabbing attack in the community of Adam (near Ramallah). In the Gaza Strip snipers again shot at an IDF force, wounding an officer. The Friday July 27 "return march" was attended by about 7,000 Gazans. Attempts continued to reach an agreement to stabilize the ceasefire and prevent the situation from deteriorating, with Nikolay Mladenov, the UN envoy to the Middle East, and Egypt both holding rounds of talks with Hamas.

The Flotilla to the Gaza Strip (Update No. 1)

Three flotilla boats have set sail to the Gaza Strip: on July 21, 2018, the al-Awda left the port of Palermo, Sicily; on July 22, 2018, the Huriya and Falestine also set sail. There are about 40 passengers on board (Freedom Flotilla Coalition Facebook page, July 22 and 23, 2018). The fourth boat, the Mairead, did not set sail because of what was described as crew issues. A “flotilla” of three small boats has begun its voyage to the Gaza Strip, expected to arrive around the end of July 2018, having conducted a propaganda tour of several European ports

Three small boats of the flotilla to the Gaza Strip set sail on July 21 and 22, 2018, and are expected to arrive around the end of July. Before they left for the Gaza Strip they conducted a series of propaganda visits to various European ports. The flotilla's objective is to help the Palestinian propaganda campaign that accompanies the "return marches" by raising awareness to the demand to lift the "siege" on the Gaza Strip.

Fourth round of escalation between Israel and Hamas, which ended with Hamas’ announcement agreeing to end the fighting

On Friday, July 20, 2018, during a "return march" at the Israeli-southern Gaza border, snipers shot at at an IDF patrol, killing a soldier. The incident, which was designated by the IDF as the most serious since the end of Operation Protective Edge, led to an exchange of fire in which three Hamas terrorist operatives were killed.
