The amount of sporadic rocket fire from the Gaza Strip increased. On July 29 an event occurred north of Jerusalem in which a Palestinian was killed and an Israeli policeman suffered slight wounds. During the first half of 2012 there was a significant increase in the so-called soft violence in the Jerusalem area.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (July 18-24, 2012)

This past week terrorist events focused on the Hezbollah bombing of a bus full of Israeli tourists in Burgas, Bulgaria. This past week there was also a terrorist attack along the Israeli-Egyptian border. Shots were fired at a bus carrying IDF soldiers in the region of Ein Netafim. There were no casualties.

Hamas and UN agencies (UNDP and UNESCO) participated in two inaugurations in the Gaza Strip: a school named for senior terrorist operative Adnan al-Ghoul (involved in deadly terrorist attacks in Israel) and a space sciences chair at the Islamic University in Gaza City, a Hamas stronghold.
