Spotlight on Iran (June 2 -16, 2019)

On June 13, two oil tankers were attacked in the Gulf of Oman. Iran rejected the accusations and blamed foreign actors for the attack, which was carried out during a visit of the Japanese prime minister to Tehran. The deputy commander of the IRGC called Iranian presence in Syria “the realization of a divide duty”. Even after a ceasefire ended the most recent round of escalation, systematic launching of incendiary and IED balloons from the Gaza Strip continues.

Since the ceasefire (May 6, 2019) that ended the most recent round of escalation, there has been a gradual increase in the launching of incendiary and IED balloons from the Gaza Strip. During the past two weeks it has become intensive and systematic, and caused scores of fires near the Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip border.
