In the northern Israeli city of Acre a vehicular attack was carried out by an Israeli Arab whose motive, according to the Israel Police Force, was nationalistic. Four people were wounded; three of them belonged to the Israeli security forces. In Judea, Samaria, east Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip clashes and riots continued, although with relatively low intensity. In the Gaza Strip preparations continue for the "the great march of the return," in which Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are supposed to march to the border with Israel

Video published of IED activated against IDF soldiers on the Gaza Strip security fence

On February is, 2018, an IDF force was operating near the border security fence in the southern Gaza Strip (east of Khan Yunis). About ten days after the attack a video was published documenting the Israeli soldiers approaching the fence a few moments before the IED exploded.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (February 14 -20, 2018)

This past week events focused on the attack in the Gaza Strip, the most serious since Operation Protective Edge. In response, IDF tanks fired at a Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) observation post and Israeli Air Force aircraft attacked 18 "terrorist targets." The incident was another example of the erosion of the relative calm between Hamas and Israel since the end of Operation Protective Edge.

Palestinian Terrorism: Analysis of 2017 and Forecast for 2018

During 2017 the number of terrorist attacks continued to decline. There were 82 significant terrorist attacks, as compared with 142 in 2016 and 134 during the last three months of 2015. In 2017 there were between 4 and 7 significant terrorist attacks a month, but there were also months when the numbers rose to between 10 and 13. Despite the decline in the number of attacks, there was no decline in the number of deaths they caused.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (February 7 – 13, 2018)

This past week events focused on the attack of two Israeli soldiers (one female) who took a wrong turn and entered the Palestinian city of Jenin. This past week there were two stabbing attacks: a Palestinian went to the community of Karmei Tsur in Gush Etzion and stabbed a security guard in the arm. Another security guard shot and killed the Palestinian. This past week no rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip. The Israeli media reported that the Israel Security Agency revealed Hamas was transferring funds from Turkey to Hamas operatives in Judea and Samaria.

Recent Hamas-led campaign for mass popular marches to the Israeli border. The objective is to create Arab and international pressure to resolve the Gaza Strip’s international pressure to resolve the Gaza Strip’s economic hardship and to challenge Israel.

An idea has recently been examined in the Gaza Strip to organize mass "non-violent" protest marches to Israel's border, whose participants will attempt to break into Israeli territory. An idea was also proposed to set up a "return camp" near the border which will have a permanent presence of Palestinian marchers.
