Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (February 1-7, 2023)

This past week Palestinian terrorists carried out three attacks in Judea and Samaria two IDF soldiers injured. Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activity, concentrating their efforts in the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp near Jericho. During the two-day activity five Hamas terrorist operatives were killed; two of them had been involved in the shooting attack at the Almog Junction (January 28, 2023). 11 rockets were fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip. The Palestinians claimed they were a reaction to the measures taken by the Israeli prison service against women prisoners in Israeli jails who celebrated when seven Israelis were killed in Neve Yaakov in Jerusalem.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (January 25-31, 2023)

This past week there was a sharp rise in the number of terrorist attacks and casualties, as well as in the number of rocks, Molotov cocktails and bottles of paint thrown at Israeli vehicles driving on the roads in Judea and Samaria. Six terrorist attacks were carried out, killing seven civilians and wounding five. Ten Palestinians were killed in Israeli security force counterterrorism activities in the Jenin refugee camp. Most of them were Palestinian terrorist operatives. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in the Gaza Strip fired five rockets at Israel to avenge the Israeli activity in Jenin.

Palestinian Terrorism Against Israel, 2022: Methods, Trends and Description

In 2022 there was a substantial rise in the number of Palestinian terrorist attacks against Israel. Eighty-six significant attackswere carried out, up from 54 in 2021,16 of the attacks were carried out inside Israeli territory (one in 2021). Thirty Israelis were killed (24 civilians and six members of the security forces). One Border Police fighter was killed in an operational activity in Samaria. In 2021 three civilians were killed. There were 46 shooting attacks 54% of the total number. One round of fighting was conducted in the Gaza Stripin August 2022.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (January 18-24, 2023)

This past week Palestinians carried out two terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria; no Israeli casualties were reported. One was a stabbing the other was a shooting attack Two attempted stabbing attacks were prevented by Israeli security forces. Two Palestinians were killed in clashes with Israeli security forces in the Jenin refugee camp. The Gaza Strip remained relatively quiet. experimental rockets were fired towards the sea. Members of the Palestinian Authority (PA) leadership continue their diplomatic "struggle" against the new Israeli government.

The military-terrorist wings of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad published books by terrorist activists imprisoned in Israel

At the beginning of January 2023 the Izz al-Din Qassam Brigades issued a book called The Bus Is Burning, apparently written by Hassan Salamehwho is currently serving 46 consecutive life sentences in Israeli prisons. At the end of December 2022 a book about Bassem al-Sa'adi was published. Al-Sa'adi is a high-ranking Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) operative who was detained in Jenin in August 2022, whose detention led to Operation Breaking Dawn. The books were apparently published as part of inculcating the Palestinian public with the shaheed culture

This past week Palestinians carried out six terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria, four shooting and two stabbing attacks. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities, detaining dozens of wanted terrorists and confiscating weapons. According to reports, five Palestinians were killed in clashes with Israeli security forces. The Gaza Strip remained relatively quiet. The Iranian foreign minister met with representatives of the Palestinian organizations In the wake of Israeli measures to counteract the Palestinian Authority's (PA) unilateral steps in the international arena.
