The situation in the Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria heated up this past week. Two rockets were launched at Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. In Judea and Samaria the number active COVID-19 cases continues to spike, and reached 1,924 (as of June 30, 2020), most of them in the Hebron district. As July 1 approaches, the date on which Israeli law will be imposed on parts of Judea and Samaria, the volume of threats from Hamas and the other terrorist organizations is increasing. In the Gaza Strip preparations are being made for "popular activities" as part of a "day of rage" on July 1, 2020. The Palestinian Authority (PA) continues its diplomatic activity in the international arena to deter Israel from implementing its annexation intentions.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (June 17 – 23, 2020)

Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip have been relatively quiet (with the exception of the throwing of stones and Molotov cocktails at Israeli vehicles driving on roads in Judea and Samaria). The number of active COVID-19 cases in Judea and Samaria spiked this past week, considered in the PA as a second wave of infection. The widespread outbreak of coronavirus in Judea and Samaria has drawn a considerable amount of attention in the PA towards dealing with the virus and away from the campaign against Israel.

The Fight Against COVID-19 in the Gaza Strip (Updated to June 21, 2020)

This past week no new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Gaza Strip. Despite the small number of cases, the head of the W.H.O. regional office in Gaza has reiterated his warning that the internal spread of the virus is only a matter of time. The lifting of restrictions continues, accompanied by the implementation of preventive measures and warnings against public complacency. The heads of the public health system continue complaining about the shortage of medical resources.

Israel's southern border was tense this past week after several months of relative quiet due to the Gaza Strip's fight against COVID-19. Judea and Samaria have been relatively quiet after the number of popular terrorism attacks peaked during May 2020 (seven significant attacks). The Palestinian Authority (PA) continues its diplomatic and media campaign in the international arena to prevent Israel from implementing its intention to annex territories in Judea and Samaria.

The Fight Against the Spread of COVID-19 in the Gaza Strip (Updated to June 14, 2020)

Last week two more cases of COVID-19 were detected in the Gaza Strip. The number remains low and Hamas' handling of preventing the spread of the disease has so far been successful. Given the situation, the easing of restrictions has been trending upwards, while preventive measures are still strictly enforced.

The Fight Against COVID-19 in the Gaza Strip (Updated to May 31, 2020)

This past week six new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the Gaza Strip, bringing the total number to 61, of which 42 are active. All the cases entered the Gaza Strip through the Rafah Crossing. In ITIC assessment Hamas's fight against the coronavirus is under control. According to a website based in London, the number of cases and deaths in the Gaza Strip is far larger that what has been reported. So far the information has not been verified.
