Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (April 19-23, 2023)

During the past five days Palestinians carried out one terrorist attack. No casualties were reported but the bus was damaged. The Israeli security forces continued intensive counterterrorism activities in Judea and Samaria, focusing on Nablus and Jenin The number of rock- and Molotov cocktail-throwing attacks decreased significantly. About 120,000 worshippers participated in the morning holiday prayer on the Temple Mount. Then they chanted slogans in support of Hamas and the "resistance". The Gaza Strip remained relatively calm. Mahmoud Abbas paid a visit to Saudi Arabia, where he met with Crown Prince A Hamas delegation visited Saudi Arabia at the same time. Apparently the delegation did not meet with representatives of the Saudi Arabian government.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (April 3-18, 2023)

During the past two weeks Palestinians carried out nine terrorist attacks in Judea, Samaria and inside Israeli. A mother and her two daughters and a tourist from Italy were killed. The Israeli security forces continued their counterterrorism activities,. The main arenas were Jericho, Nablus and Jenin.On the night of the Passover Seder and in the following days dozens of rockets were fired at Israeli territory, atypically from three different arenas. The pretext for the rocket fire was the riot at al-Aqsa mosque. Isma'il Haniyeh, head of Hamas' political bureau, paid a visit to Lebanon, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leader Ziyad al-Nakhalah paid a visit to Iraq.. The Palestinians scored a political achievement in the UN, and on May 15 the General Assembly will mark Nakba Day.

This past week Palestinian terrorists carried out two attacks in Judea and Samaria. There was an incident in the Old City of Jerusalem which may have been a terrorist attack. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities, two armed Palestinians were killed in Nablus in an exchange of fire with Israeli forces. The second Friday of Ramadan attracted about 260,000 Muslim worshippers to the Temple Mount. The Palestinians were critical of the long waits at the entrances to Jerusalem. The Gaza Strip remained relatively calm. Land Day passed without particular incident.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (March 22-28, 2023)

This past week Palestinian terrorists carried out four shooting attacks in Judea and Samaria two soldiers were wounded. Israeli security forces continued their counterterrorism activities. Their activities focused on the Tulkarm region, where the commander of the Tulkarm Battalion was killed, and on the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp (near Jericho). The Gaza Strip remained relatively calm. IDF forces intercepted a Hamas UAV flying over the Gaza Strip. Hamas leader Khalil al-Haya said in an interview that the battle against Israel was reaching its final confrontation, and that Israel's weaknesses were being revealed day after day. Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh continued meeting with foreign diplomats to gain support for the Palestinian issue.

This past week Palestinian terrorists carried out two attacks in Judea and Samaria. The Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism activities, focusing on Jenin, four Palestinians were killed. On March 18, 2023 a rocket was launched into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. A Hamas delegation headed by Musa Abu Marzouq visited Moscow and met with the Russian deputy foreign minister. A Hamas delegation headed by Isma'il Haniyeh visited Algeria. Saleh al-'Arouri, deputy head of Hamas' political bureau, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leader Ziyad al-Nakhalah met in Lebanon with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. In preparation for the Muslim religious month of Ramadan, Israel announced a series measures to ease conditions for the Palestinian population.

Spotlight on Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (March 8-14, 2023)

This past week four terrorist attacks were carried out in Judea, Samaria and inside Israel. The most serious was a shooting attack in Tel Aviv in which three Israeli civilian were wounded. The Israeli security forces' counterterrorism activities were focused Jenin and Nablus in Samaria; 16 Palestinians were killed, most of them terrorist operatives. A rocket was fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip. An IED exploded near an IDF bulldozer engaged in activities near the border security fence in the southern Gaza Strip.
