This past week during the Friday "return march" and the following days there again was a high level of violence. An Iranian Arabic TV channel broadcast a program about the military capabilities of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), Iran's preferred terrorist organization. Terrorism and the Media: Hamas operatives in the Gaza Strip who also worked as media personnel were involved in recruiting a terrorist network exposed in Judea and Samaria.

The Israel Security Agency recently exposed a Hamas network in Judea and Samaria whose operatives were recruited and handled by Hamas operatives in the Gaza Strip. The recruits were given instructions to carry out terrorist attacks in Judea, Samaria and Israel. Interrogation revealed the methods used by the handlers in the Gaza Strip. The recruiters represented themselves as journalists, and covert messages were passed to the recruits though al-Aqsa TV, Hamas' most important media outlet (in order to verify the authenticity of their handlers in the Gaza Strip).

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (February 13 – 19, 2019)

This past week the Friday "return march" was again characterized by a high level of violence. The event illustrate Hamas' warning that it would raise the level of violence if its demands were not met. After friction and a series of confrontations with PA officials, Hamas completed its takeover of the Gazan side of the Kerem Shalom Crossing. The Israeli political-security cabinet decided to implement the law allowing Israel to deduct about 502 million shekels (about $139 million), transferred to the Palestinian prisoners and their families from the tax revenues Israel collects for the PA However, the PA does not intend to stop payments to prisoners, their families and the families of shaheeds.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (February 6-12, 2019)

At the "return march" in the Gaza Strip on Friday, February 8, 2019, there was a relatively high level of violence. In ITIC assessment, behind the rise in the level of violence lies the failure of the most recent round of talks in Cairo and the differences of opinion between Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) regarding the desirable dose of violence. In Judea and Samaria terrorist events focused on the stabbing attack that killed a young Israeli woman near the Biblical Zoo in Jerusalem. The Palestinian Authority (PA) media ignored the murder.

The "return march" of February 1, 2019, was characterized by a relatively low level of violence. In Judea and Samaria popular terrorism continues. The Israeli ministry of defense announced the beginning of the construction of an upper barrier in the Gaza Strip on top of the underground barrier.

News of Terrorism and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (January 23 – 29, 2019)

This past week there was a relatively high level of controlled violence during the Friday "return march. "Before the violence there were three incidents that increased tension between Hamas and Israel: one was Palestinian Islamic Jihad sniper fire at IDF forces, carried out under the cover of a gathering of Palestinians near the fence. Hamas spokesmen and Hamas-affiliated media continue threatening to raise the level of violence from the Gaza Strip against Israel. On January 29, 2019, Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah announced the resignation of his government to Palestinian chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
