This past week terrorism events focused on the new round of escalation in southern Israel, during which 105 rockets and an estimated 12 mortar shells hit Israeli territory. Hamas and the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) claimed responsibility for most of the rocket launchings.

Escalation in Rocket Fire in the South (Update No. 2) (1300 hours, June 21, 2012)

On June 20 rocket and mortar shell fire into Israeli territory intensified, with 70 rocket hits identified during the day. Most of the rockets landing in the western Negev.
