ISIS’s relatively moderate activity around the world continues. On the other hand, the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab Organization in Somalia continues its intensive activity against the Somali government. The Iraqi forces’ counterterrorism activity against ISIS continues, alongside sporadic attacks carried out by ISIS in the country. Nigeria: It has been reported that ISIS’s West Africa Province and Boko Haram set up camps in Zamfara State, in northwestern Nigeria. This may indicate the expansion of those organizations to other states in Nigeria.

Al-Shabaab, the Branch of al-Qaeda in Somalia and the Horn of Africa

The al-Qaeda leadership devoted the seventh issue of its magazine to Somalia. It predicted the al-Shabaab, its branch in Somalia, would soon be victorious, overthrow the government, take control of Mogadishu and expel the foreign forces.Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud formulated a three-pronged strategy to weaken al-Shabaab and repel its forces from Mogadishu and the surrounding regions.In ITIC assessment, in the wake of its going increase in strength, al-Shabaab can be expected to continue its efforts to overthrow the Somali government.

New Hamas Fundraising Campaign: Hamas’ military wing began a new fundraising campaign about a month after the United States thwarted digital coin campaigns of Hamas, al-Qaeda and ISIS

On September 13, 2020, al-Jazeera TV broadcast an investigative report in its program "More Than Meets the Eye." The program dealt with the military buildup of the Izz al-Din Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, and its improved fighting capabilities. After the broadcast, and in the wake of the normalization of Israel's relations with the UAE and Bahrain, a campaign was launched on the social networks (in Arabic) called "#support_the_resistance."

Funding Terrorism: The al-Qaeda-affiliated Salafi Army of the Nation in Jerusalem, which operates in the Gaza Strip, recently renewed its Bitcoin fund-raising campaign

The Salafi Army of the Nation in Jerusalem, a jihadi organization affiliated with Al-Qaeda operating in the Gaza Strip, recently renewed a campaign to raise funds in Bitcoin (for information about the organization, see the Appendix). According to the organization, donations will provide organization fighters with weapons and military equipment. At the bottom of the announcement are the address of a virtual wallet for inserting Bitcoin donations, an email address and a Telegram account (Telegram, May 8, 2020).

In an audiotape distributed on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri calls on Muslims to adhere to jihad against the United States on different fronts worldwide

On September 11, 2018, the Al-Sahab Foundation, Al-Qaeda’s media arm, released a 30-minute audiotape commemorating the 17th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The audiotape, entitled “How should we confront America?” describes the United States as the main enemy of Muslims all over the world and specifies the different fronts where the United States fights against the Muslims, allegedly from religious motives.
