Graffiti reading
“Al-Aqsa
Martyrs Brigades”

The caption reads: “Youth waving the Palestinian
flag and writing slogans against the racist wall during a demonstration
in Qalqiliya [which
was held] yesterday.” (At the left is the name of the photographer, Jamal al-‘Aruri.)

| The above is a picture which appeared in the Palestinian Authority daily newspaper
Al-Ayyam. The picture's caption is misleading because the
graffiti on the wall is not a protest against
the fence. Its correct translation is “ Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades ,”
i.e., the Fatah's terrorist military wing, responsible for the perpetration
of countless terrorist attacks against Israel, including attacks on the Israeli
side of the border. |

| Thus to create the (false) impression that Israel has erected a wall (whose
negative connotations the innocent reader will interpret incorrectly) and not
an anti-terrorism fence , the Palestinians published a picture
of the so-called “wall” built on the outskirts of Qalqiliya .
In that specific area, a protective barrier was in fact erected
by the Israeli company which built Israel's new north-south toll road. The
barrier was erected with the exclusive purpose of preventing civilian travelers
from being shot at by Palestinian terrorists operating from Qalqiliya. It
should be remembered that in that area on June 16, 2003, a Palestinian
Islamic Jihad terrorist squad managed to infiltrate Israeli territory.
They fired shots at a passing civilian Israeli passenger vehicle, killing a
young girl and seriously wounded two other members of her family. |
