This past week terrorist events focused on two terrorist attacks, one a shooting attack and the other a stabbing attack .Hamas praised both attacks. Its military-terrorist wing claimed responsibility for the shooting attack, although reliability of the claim is doubtful. The "Freedom Flotilla 3," which has at least three ships, has completed its preparations to sail to the Gaza Strip.

This past week terrorist events focused on the two instances of rocket fire targeting the Ashqelon region and other locations in the western Negev. Israel reiterated its policy of considering Hamas responsible for all rocket fire from the Gaza Strip (although Israel is aware it has been carried out by rogue terrorist organizations and that Hamas has made efforts to prevent it). Events held for Naksa Day (the day the Palestinians mark the Six Day War) passed without exceptional occurrences.

How the Palestinian Authority and Fatah Respond to Vehicular Attacks

During the first half of 2015 there was a rise in the number of vehicular attacks, continuing the trend of 2014. Since the beginning of 2015 there have been seven vehicular attacks, four of them in Jerusalem (a focal point for such attacks) and three in Judea and Samaria. The attacks killed one civilian and wounded 12 individuals, ten of them members of the Israeli security forces.

UN Committee on NGOs voted to grant the Palestinian Return Centre observer status, pending authorization.

UN Committee on NGOs voted to grant the Palestinian Return Centre observer status, pending authorization. The London-based PRC is affiliated with Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood and has played an important role in the campaign to delegitimize Israel.

This past week terrorist events focused on rocket fire from the Gaza Strip. A rocket hit was identified in Israeli territory near Gan Yavne, a village east of Ashdod. Israel responded to the rocket fire from the Gaza Strip with air strikes on four terrorist targets in the southern Gaza Strip. The Palestinian bid to suspend Israel from the Federation of the International Football Association (FIFA) was unsuccessful.

This past week Israel's south remained quiet. In Jerusalem there was a vehicular attack targeting a group of Border Policemen, carried out on the road to the Mt. of Olives. The Palestinian media recently reported that a dirt road was being constructed in the Gaza Strip along the border with Israel at a distance of a few hundred meters from the border security fence.
