This past week the quiet in Israel's south was maintained. The meeting for indirect Israeli-Palestinian negotiations supposed to be held in Cairo was postponed by Egypt. The wave of riots in the east Jerusalem neighborhoods continues, peaking with the vehicular attack carried out at the Ammunition Hill light railway station, which killed two (a three month-old baby and a female tourist from Ecuador).

On the afternoon of October 22, 2014, a Palestinian terrorist operative from Silwan in east Jerusalem carried out a vehicular attack at the Ammunition Hill light rail station in Jerusalem. A three month-old baby girl was killed and eight people were wounded, one of them, a 20 year-old woman, critically.

Israel's south remains quiet. There were violent clashes on the Temple Mount during the High Holidays between Palestinians rioters and the Israeli security forces. Senior Hamas figures incited the residents of Judea and Samaria and Israeli Arabs to confront the Israeli security forces. Hamas spokesmen stated that the indirect negotiations in Cairo would be renewed at the end of October. They said they were determined to construct air and sea ports and would not compromise.

At memorial ceremonies for Gazans killed in Operation Protective Edge, Mahmoud al-Zahar reiterated his vicious anti-Semitic theory, intended to justify attacks on Jews and the destruction of the State of Israel.

In September 2014 Mahmoud al-Zahar, a member of Hamas' political bureau, gave speeches at two memorial ceremonies for Gazans killed in Operation Protective Edge, both broadcast by Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV. They had strong anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli themes.

Israel's south remains quiet. Rioting continues in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria. In Hebron, two of the terrorist operatives who abducted and murdered the three Israeli youths in June were killed in an exchange of fire with IDF forces. On September 24, 2014, indirect negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians were renewed in Cairo. Mahmoud Abbas, chairman of the Palestinian Authority (PA), gave a speech before the UN General Assembly.
