Osama Hamdan'sremarks were made in response to reports from Palestinian sources that Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Iranian foreign minister, had asked Hamas to support Iran against Saudi Arabia. In return, according to the reports, Iran would recognize Hamas as the official representative of the Palestinians.
