This past week one rocket hit was identified in Israeli territory, landing in the western Negev. Violent confrontations and friction continued in Judea and and Samaria. Following the abduction of seven Egyptian soldiers and policemen, the Egyptian security forces took steps on the ground making contact difficult between the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip.

On May 25, 2004, the Israel Security Agency and the IDF arrested
Muhammad Abu Juewid,
a Palestinian residing in Jordan who was recruited to Fatah�s pro-Syrian faction (the Abu Musa faction

), which subsequently transferred him to Hezbollah�s control (a scenario used in the past).

The Fatah Abu Musa faction:
A pro-Syrian faction that split from Fatah in May 1983. The organization�s strength rests on elements from Fatah�s left wing and on the organization�s military units left in Syria and in Lebanon. The organization includes several thousands of operatives and its main headquarters is located in
Damascus ;
the organization�s headquarters in Jordan is headed by
Ibrahim Ajwa.
