In a press conference held on June 8 in Iraq, prime minister Nuri al-Maliki announced that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, head of the Al-Qaeda branch in Iraq, had been killed. Jordanian-born Abu Musab al-Zarqawi had been the most important terrorist in Iraq and head of the Iraqi Al-Qaeda branch.
