On three separate occasions this past week a number of rockets and mortar shells fell in Israeli territory. Violence continues in Judea and Samaria, a manifestation of the so-called "popular resistance. American Secretary of State John Kerry met with Mahmoud Abbas in an effort to renew the peace process.

Fathi Hamad, minister of the interior of the de-facto Hamas administration and responsible for enforcing the lull in the Gaza Strip, also handles terrorist squads and promotes terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria.

Since the end of Operation Pillar of Defense (November 2012) Hamas operatives in the Gaza Strip led by Fathi Hamad, minister of the interior of the Hamas administration, have increased their efforts to establish terrorist squads in Judea and Samaria to carry out attacks against Israel.

On the morning of February 26, 2013, a rocket hit was identified south of the Israeli city of Ashqelon. This past week Palestinians continued rioting to show solidarity with the terrorist operatives imprisoned in Israeli jails, leading to confrontations with the Israeli security forces.

Information on Fighting Terrorism
One of the global challenges today is the war on terrorism. There are a variety of means and methods available to the war on terrorism, one of which is conventional military force.
There are other approaches to the war on terrorism beyond the military, such as preventing financing, enforcing laws, using political and economic measures to cut organizations off from their supporters, and infiltrating counterterrorism agents into terrorist organizations in order to expose them.
There are a variety of entities involved in the war on terrorism, among them military, internal security, judicial and economic bodies. Many states have established units especially to fight terrorism, whose duties include counterterrorism and fighting in real time.
Science and technology can also help in the war on terrorism because the global terrorism environment is constantly changing and the terrorist organizations become more sophisticated as they exploit technical innovations to increase their threat.
